    Owen won the pommel horse title at the USAG Championships last weekend.

    Air Force Takes Third at Rocky Mountain Open

    Gared Chapman and Josh Pyne matched the Academy's vault record (14.750).

    2012: Received a medical turnback from the Academy, while recovering from shoulder surgery.

    SOPHOMORE YEAR (2011): Competed on the pommel horse in every team competition...posted a career-best 14.200 during the regular season finale against Washington...that score is the eighth-highest mark in Academy history...also surpassed the 14-point mark during the Illinois-Chicago Quad on March 4 (14.100)...claimed two first-place finishes on the horse (at Springfield, vs. Washington).

    FRESHMAN YEAR (2010): Did not see competitive action.

    HIGH SCHOOL/CLUB: Was home schooled...graduated with a 3.99 GPA...competed at the club level for the Atlanta School of Gymnastics...coached by Nathan Simmons and Spencer Slaton...competed all four years at the Junior Olympic national championships...earned Academic All-America honors.

    PERSONAL: Full first name is Nicholas, but goes by Nick...son of Michael and Susan Owen...has one younger brother, Zachary, who is a freshman on the Air Force men's gymnastics team...majoring in biology...future plans include becoming a public affairs officer...served as Element Leader, Public Affairs NCO and Flight NCO...was born on New Year's Day...hobbies include golf...grandfather, George Yoblonsky, is a retired lieutenant colonel...holds a second degree black belt in Taw Kwon Do...favorite event is the pommel horse, because "it is one of the most challenging events in gymnastics and overcoming that challenge is worth the struggle"...spent the summer completing Operation Air Force in South Dakota and working Squadron Safety and Medical during Basic Cadet Training...member of Cadet Squadron 37.
