U.S. AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. – The Air Force golf team announced its 2018 spring schedule, which will begin, Feb. 18-19, at the University of San Diego. The Falcons will play six tournaments in the spring, including the annual Mountain West Championships, April 20-22, in Bremerton, Wash.
Air Force placed seventh at the Mountain West Championships last season, tying as the fourth best finish in school history. Three of the five golfers from the championships return for the Falcons. Junior Andy Germann placed 22nd in the championships last season while sophomore Joshua Wu was 36th.
The 2017 fall season was highlighted by the 49th annual Gene Miranda Falcon Invitational at the Academy’s Blue Course, Sept. 8-10. The Falcons posted their best finish since 2013, shooting a 290 each day to place ninth with a three-round total of 870 (six-over par). Three weeks later, Air Force tied it’s best-ever performance ever in the annual Mark Simpson Invitational, hosted by the University of Colorado. The Falcons’ 861 (-3) team score and sixth-place finish tie as its best ever in the CU Invitational.
Junior Tate Tatom leads the team with a 72.83 stroke average for the season. He has eight rounds that are par or better, with a season-best 69 at the CSU Ram Masters. Junior Bryant Falconello is at 73.33 for the season while sophomore Joseph Crisostomo is at 74.33. Falconello has seven rounds at par or better with a season-best 68 at the CU Invitational. Crisostomo has five rounds at par or better and has matched his career-best round of 68 in both the Falcon and CU Invitationals.
