Falcons Host Agua-Caliente AFA Collegiate Invitational

    The Air Force golf team wraps up its fall season this weekend, Nov. 10-11, as it hosts the Agua-Caliente Air Force Academy Collegiate Invitational in Palm Springs, Calif. The 54-hole tournament, being played at the Indian Canyons Golf Resort, is slated to begin with two rounds on Saturday, starting at 7:30 a.m. (PT). The final round will begin at 7:30 on Sunday morning.

    Last Time Out...
    Led by freshman Jack Kasting, Air Force finished 14th at the Sycuan Collegiate Invitational, Oct. 22-23. Kasting finished in a tie for 37th place with a season-best score of 229 (+13). Rounding out the group for Air Force were Shaun O'Bryant, Bob Whitney, Tom Whitney and Andrew Gibson.

    The Field...
    Ten teams are slated to compete in this week's tournament. The full list, with the latest Golfweek/Sagarin ratings in parentheses, follows: Air Force (183), Air Force Blue, Colorado State (86), Denver (105), Hartford (153), Northern Iowa (164), Southern Utah (148), Utah State, Utah Valley State (198) and Weber State.

    In the Record Books...
    Sophomore Tom Whitney's score of 211 at the Wolf Pack Classic ranks tied for 10th lowest individual tournament scores in school history. Meanwhile, his score of 214 at the Shootout at Angel Park also ranks among the lowest individual tournament scores at the Academy. Whitney has now shot 214 or better five times in his career, ranking tied with Ben Leestma and behind only 2007 graduate Tyler Goulding (10 times).

    The Falcons begin the spring season Feb. 18-19, at the UTSA Intercollegiate in San Antonio, Texas.
