Leestma Captures Third Place in Golf Tournament

LONG BEACH (Nov. 4) - Air Force golfer Ben Leestma continued to play well for the Falcons, capturing third place in the 49er Collegiate Classic golf tournament Nov. 4. Leestma, who was leading after two rounds, finished the tournament with a 214 (71-69-74) total, just one stroke behind winners Troy McKinley (Pacific) and Jeff Colbrun (Cal Irvine).

Leestma has been the Falcons' most consistent golfer on the season. He came into the weekends' tournament having won back-to-back individual titles - at the Falcon Cross Creek Invitational and the Service Academy Classic.

Despite Leestma's strong outing, the Falcons finished in 12th place of 15 teams. As a team, the Falcons carded a three-round total of 909 (295-299-315).

The event ends the Falcons' fall season. They will be out of action until Feb. 21-22, when they will travel to Pensacola, Fla., for the Emerald Coast Invitational.
