The Air Force golf team returns to action Monday and Tuesday, Oct. 18-19, at the 28th-annual Wolf Pack Classic, hosted by Nevada. The 54-hole tournament will be played at the 7,100-yard, par-72 Wolf Run Golf Club in Reno, Nev.
Last Time Out...
Last weekend, Air Force took part in the Rocky Mountain Invitational, a match-play event hosted by Northern Colorado. The Falcons competed against MWC rival Wyoming as well as the host Bears.
In the match-play event, Air Force finished second behind Northern Colorado, led by sophomore Ben Jackman, who shot a 69. The teams also took part in a medal play event, also won by the Bears.
In its last major event, the Falcons finished 17th overall at the loaded William Tucker Invitational Oct. 1-2. Leading the way for Air Force was sophomore Tyler Goulding, who tied for 13th place with a one-over par 217. Meanwhile, Ben Jackman came in a tie for 59th with a 225 and Daryl McCoy was tied for 64th with a three-day total of 227. Rounding out the competition for the Falcons were freshman Tyler Labrum, who placed 95th and senior Kala'e Leong who came in tied for 96th.
This Week's Field...
Eighteen teams will compete with the Falcons at the Wolf Pack Classic, including fellow Mountain West opponents Utah and Wyoming. The full list of competitors follows: Air Force, Boise State, Denver, Fresno State, Hawaii, Lamar, Nevada, Oregon State, San Diego, San Francisco, San Jose State, UCLA (B), UC Santa Barbara, Utah, UTEP, Wichita State and Wyoming.
In The Rankings...
Two of this week's opponents are rated among the top 50 teams in the latest Golfweek/Sagarin performance ratings, released Oct. 12, while four others are ranked among the top 100 teams in the nation. Leading the pack is No. 41 Wichita State, followed by Oregon State (42), Lamar (54), Fresno State (74), Nevada (78) and Hawaii (88). The Sagarin rankings are based on power rating, schedule strength, schedule rank and records.
In The Conference...
Through the first three events of the season, sophomores Tyler Goulding and Ben Jackman each lead the Falcons with a 73.78 stroke average, tying for 17th in the Mountain West.

The Falcons' fall schedule continues next weekend, Oct. 23-24, as Air Force travels to Tulsa, Okla., for the Shangri-La Shootout, hosted by Oral Roberts.
