    THIS WEEK
     The Air Force golf team travels to Kansas City, Mo., this weekend for the Bill Ross Intercollegiate, hosted by Kansas City (UMKC) at the par-72, 7,054-yard Milburn Country Club. The two-day tournament is slated for two rounds on Monday, Oct. 14 and one round on Tuesday, Oct. 15.

    THE FIELD
     Fifteen teams are slated to compete in the Bill Ross Intercollegiate. They are: Air Force, Arkansas State, Central Arkansas, Creighton, Denver, Drake, Kansas City, Missouri State, Northern Iowa, Oklahoma Christian, Oral Roberts, SIU Edwardsville, ULM, Western Illinois and Wichita State. Heading to the tournament for Air Force are Kyle Westmoreland, Matthew Dunn, Jack Howard, Philip Colwell and Blake Edwards.

    LAST TIME OUT
     The Falcons finished in sixth place at the Mark Simpson Colorado Invitational in Erie, Colo. Senior Kyle Westmoreland and sophomore Matthew Dunn each posted his second top 10 finish in as many tournaments this fall. Westmoreland, who won the season-opening Gene Miranda Falcon Invitational, finished in a tie for fifth overall with a three-round total of one-over par 217 after a final round 73 (+1). Dunn, meanwhile, followed up his second-place finish at the Falcon Invite with a tie for eighth at 219 (+3) after posting a team-best round of 70 on in the final round.

    FALCONS UNABLE TO COMPETE AT BRICKYARD
     The Falcons were unable to travel to Macon, Ga., for the Brickyard Collegiate Championship last weekend due to the government shutdown.

    FALCONS MOVE UP IN GOLFWEEK RANKINGS
     Despite not playing at the Brickyard Collegiate Championship, the Falcons moved up two spots to No. 49 in the country in the most recent national rankings by Golfweek Magazine.  Three Mountain West teams are ranked ahead of AFA; New Mexico (7), UNLV (14) and San Diego State (47).

    HEAD COACH George Koury
     This fall, Air Force head coach George Koury is in his 12th season at the helm of the Falcons’ golf program. After serving three seasons as an assistant under legendary coach Gene Miranda, Koury took over the program at the start of the 2002-03 season.

    UP NEXT
     The Falcons will close out their fall season at the UTEP Invitational in El Paso, Texas. The two-day tournament begins on Friday, Oct. 25.
