Men's Golf Finishes 16th at Tucker Invitational


    The Falcons' golf team finished tied for 16th place among 24 teams at New Mexico's Tucker Invitational. Facing some of the toughest competition in men's collegiate golf, the Falcons notched a three-round total of 907 (301-309-297) in their first competition of the year.

    For the second consecutive week, Chris Dieter led the Falcon golfers. Dieter finished tied for 38th place, carding a two-day total of 222 (73-75-74). Matt Sakowitz (74-76-73-223) and Ben Leestma (74-76-73-223) were both one stroke behind their teammate.

    The two-day tournament, which took place at the UNM Championship Golf in Albuquerque, N.M., was won by Brigham Young University (861), followed by runner up UNLV (863). BYU's Billy Harvey won the individual title, shooting nine under par for the tournament.

    This week, the team will host its annual tournament, the Falcon-Cross Creek Invitational, Sept. 22-24.
