Men's Golf Finishes 8th at Badger Invitational


    (Sept. 13) - The Falcons' golf team finished in 8th place among 15 teams at Wisconsin's Badger invitational. Facing some of the toughest competition in men's collegiate golf, the Falcons notched a three-round total of 890 (291-304-295) in their first competition of the year. Chris Dieter led the Falcon charge, finishing tied for 17th place. He carded a 221 (73-70-78). Matt Sakowitz was one stroke behind his teammate, carding 222 (71-77-74) to tie for 23rd place.

    The two-day tournament, which took place at the University Ridge Golf Course (par 72, 6,888 yards) in Madison, Wisc., was won by host school Wisconsin (860), followed by runner up Penn State (864). Wisconsin's Jim Lemon (212) won the individual title, defeating Notre Dame's Steve Ratay (212) in a playoff.

    This week, the team travels to Albuquerque, N.M., for the Tucker Invitational, which takes place Sept. 15-16.
