In round one of the 2013 NCAA Southwest Regional Golf Tournament at the Karsten Golf Course in Tempe, Ariz. on Thursday, May 16, junior Kyle Westmoreland carded a four-over par 74 and is tied for 57th place. The low five teams and the low individual not on those teams from each regional will advance to the finals.
Westmoreland opened his round with a birdie on the first hole, then after a couple of bogeys, got back to even-par with another birdie at No. 9. He sat at even until a bogey at 15 and 16 followed by a double-bogey at 17.
Pontus Widegren of UCLA and Dustin Korte of Austin Peay State are tied as tournament leaders with a six-under par total of 64.
Round two of the competition tees off on Friday, May 17 at 7:30 a.m. Westmoreland will tee off at 9:01 a.m. from the tenth hole with Alex McMahon of Arizona and Alex DiClemente of Lehigh University. Live stats will be available at www.golfstat.com.
