    THIS WEEK
     The Air Force golf team travels to Scottsdale, Ariz., for the 2014 University of Wyoming Cowboy Classic. The 54-hole event will take place at the par-70, 7,133-yard Talking Stick Golf Club. The tournament is scheduled for April 7-8, with 36 holes beginning at 7:30 a.m. (PT) on Monday and the final 18 holes beginning at the same time on Tuesday.

    THE FIELD
     Joining Air Force and host Wyoming in the tournament will be BYU, UC Davis, UC Irvine, UC Riverside, UC Santa Barbara, Colorado, Gonzaga, Idaho, Kansas State, Oklahoma, Old Dominion, Santa Clara, Southern Utah, Utah, Utah State, UTEP, UT Pan American, UTSA and Weber State. Playing for the Falcons will be seniors Kyle Westmoreland, Jack Howard and Philip Colwell and freshmen Sunwoo Choi and Andy Germann. Seniot Todd Berglund will participate as an individual.

    LAST TIME OUT
     The Air Force golf team finished in 16th place after the third and final round of the Duck Invitational in Eugene, Ore. Freshman Sunwoo Choi led the Falcons individually, finishing in a tie for 25th.
     Choi, whose previous best finish was a tie for 83rd, shot a seven-over par 79 in the final round on Tuesday after being tied for sixth place after the first two rounds. Senior Kyle Westmoreland finished in a tie for 46th, while fellow senior Jack Howard tied for 66th after shooting a team-best 77 on Tuesday. Freshman Andy Germann tied for 72nd while senior Philip Colwell tied for 81st.

    WESTMORELAND NAMED MOUNTAiN WEST GOLFER OF THE WEEK
     Air Force senior Kyle Westmoreland was selected Mountain West Men’s Golfer of the Week for tournaments played Feb. 24 – March 4. This was Westmoreland’s fourth MW weekly/monthly accolade of his career. Westmoreland, from Katy, Texas, posted his 15th and 16th top 10 finishes in his career that week. He finished tied for fourth with a nine-under par total of 207 and helped Air Force tie for the team title at the Snowman Getaway held Feb. 24-25 in Goodyear, Ariz., prior to his seventh-place tie at USF. 

    HEAD COACH George Koury
     Air Force head coach George Koury is in his 12th season at the helm of the Falcons’ golf program. After serving three seasons as an assistant under legendary coach Gene Miranda, Koury took over the program at the start of the 2002-03 season.

    UP NEXT
     The Falcons will play at the Gaucho Classic, hosted by the UC Santa Barbara in Santa Barbara, Calif., April 14-15.
