Falcons Finish 17th At Ron Moore Invitational

    GOODYEAR, Ariz. - Led by freshman Shaun O'Bryant (Colorado Springs, Colo.), the Air Force golf team finished in 17th place at the Ron Moore Invitational, hosted by the University of Denver at the par-72, 7,015-yard Palm Valley Golf Club. Louisville won the team title with a three-round total of 836 (-28), just one stroke ahead of second-place Nebraska and two strokes ahead of third-place Denver. James Love of Denver captured medalist honors with a 17-under-par 199.

    O'Bryant, in just his second event with the varsity team, fired a 3-over-par 219 to finish tied for 51st, followed by junior Tyler Goulding (Tracy, Calif.), who tied for 66th with a score of 221. Sophomore Bob Whitney (La Quinta, Calif.) came in tied for 89th place after finishing with a three-round total of 230, while Tyler Labrum (So., Roosevelt, Utah), who posted his low round of 73 on Tuesday, finished in 92nd place with a total of 233. Rounding out the group for Air Force was sophomore Jared Freeman (Brazil, Ind.), who finished in 96th place with a score of 241.

    Air Force's lone unattached golfer, junior Chad Follett (El Paso, Texas), also turned in a solid performance, finishing in a tie for 57th place with a 4-over-par 220.

    The Falcons return to action next week, March 27-28, in a pair of competitions. One group of Air Force golfers will head to the Mustang Intercollegiate, hosted by Western New Mexico in Albuquerque, N.M., while the others will compete at the CU-Stevinson Ranch Invitational, hosted by Colorado in Stevinson, Calif.
