Air Force Heads to San Diego Intercollegiate Classic

    The Air Force golf team is back in action this week, March 14-15, at the San Diego Intercollegiate Classic, being played at the 7,050-yard, par-72 San Diego Country Club in Chula Vista, Calif. The first two rounds of the 54-hole tournament will be played Monday, beginning with an 8:00a.m. (PT) shotgun start, while the final round is scheduled for Tuesday, with tee times beginning at 7:45 a.m. Live stats for the tournament will be available at golfstat.com.

    Struggling on the final day of action, the Air Force golf team placed 20th at the Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate, held Feb. 26-27 in Palm Desert, Calif. The Falcons finished the tournament with a three-round score of 951.

     

     

    Senior Kyle Bailey, competing as an individual, was the top Air Force performer, finishing tied for 25th place at 226 (+10). Meanwhile, sophomore Andrew Hoops was the Falcons’ top scorer, tying for 65th place at 234.

     

     

     

    The Field...

    Twelve teams are slated to compete at this week’s San Diego Intercollegiate Classic.  A full list of this year's field follows, with Golfweek/Sagarin ratings in parentheses: Air Force (189), Cal State San Marcos, Colorado State (69), Fresno State (76), Hawaii (163), Long BeachState(107), Nevada (85), Point Loma Nazarene, San Diego (22), San Diego State (10), SMU (57) and UT Arlington (75).
