The Air Force golf team opens its 2014 spring season at the Snowman Getaway Invitational, hosted by Loyola University (Md.). The 54-hole event will take place at the par-72, 7,015-yard Palm Valley Golf Club in Goodyear, Ariz. The tournament is scheduled for Feb. 24-25, with 36 holes played Monday and the final 18 holes played Tuesday. The format is an 8 a.m. shotgun start both Monday and Tuesday.
Joining Air Force and host Loyola in the tournament will be Arizona State, Connecticut, Gonzaga, Illinois State, Indiana, Missouri State, UMKC, Murray State, Navy, SIU Edwardsville, South Dakota, St. John’s, Tennessee Tech, Utah, Utah Valley and William & Mary. Kyle Westmoreland, Jack Howard, Andy Germann, Miguel Macias and Philip Colwell will represent the Falcon team. Blake Edwards and Sunwoo Choi will play as individuals.

The Air Force golf team wrapped up its fall season with a seventh-place finish at the Price’s Give ‘Em Five UTEP Invitational in El Paso, Texas. The Falcons, who were tied for fourth place after the first two rounds on Friday, shot a 302 (+14) in the final round on Saturday for a three-round total of 867 (+3).
Senior Kyle Westmoreland led the team individually, tying for 16th place with a three-round total of two-under par 214. Westmoreland shot a team-best four-under par 68 in the final round on Saturday. Senior Jack Howard and sophomore Matthew Dunn tied for 30th at 219 after shooting 75 and 80 on Saturday, respectively. Senior Philip Colwell fired an 83 on Saturday and finished tied for 47th (223), while freshman Andy Germann shot a final round 79 and tied for 64th at 227.
Air Force head coach George Koury
is in his 12th season at the helm of the Falcons’ golf program. After serving three seasons as an assistant under legendary coach Gene Miranda
, Koury took over the program at the start of the 2002-03 season.
The Falcons will play at the Univeristy of South Florida Invitational in Tampa, Fla., March 2-4.
