Air Force Golfers Set to Open Spring Season

The Air Force golf team starts the spring season this week, Feb. 18-19, at the UTSA Intercollegiate. The 54-hole tournament, being played at the par-71, 6,764-yard Oak Hills Country Club, is slated to begin Monday with an 8:00 a.m. shotgun start. Following two rounds on Monday, the final round will be played on Tuesday. Sixteen teams are scheduled to take part in this year's event. Along with the Falcons and the host Roadrunners, Central Arkansas, DePaul, Illinois State, Louisiana-Monroe, Marshall, McNeese State, Mississippi State, Oklahoma, Rhode Island, Sam Houston State, Stephen F. Austin, Texas Tech, Texas State and Wichita State will make up the field. Among the leaders for the Falcons this season is sophomore Tom Whitney (La Quinta, Calif.), Air Force's top finisher at four different tournaments in the fall.
