Air Force Golfers Begin Spring Season at UTSA Oak Hills Invitational

The Air Force golf team begins the 2011 spring season Feb. 14-15 at the UTSA Oak Hills Invitational, being played at the 6,765-yard, par-71 Oak Hills Country Club. The first two rounds of the 54-hole tournament will be played Monday, with the final round slated for Tuesday. Monday’s action will begin with an 8:00 a.m. shotgun start, while the final round will have tee times starting at 7:30 Tuesday morning. Live results for the event will be available on golfstat.com.
Last Time Out...
Led by freshman Philip Colwell, the Air Force golf team closed out the 2010 fall season at the Herb Wimberly Intercollegiate, hosted by New Mexico State. The Falcons, who tied for seventh place in the team standings, finished with a three-round score of 883 (+31).
Colwell earned his third-straight top-15 finish, tying for 13th place individually with a 3-over-par 216. Sophomore Wes Denny added a top-20 showing, placing tied for 18th place with a score of 219 (+6).
Seventeen teams are slated to compete in this year’s UTSA Oak Hills Invitational, including Texas Tech, which was ranked 23rd in the latest Golf World/NIKE Golf Coaches Poll. The Falcons return to action Feb. 26-27 at the Desert Classic, hosted by Wyoming, in Palm Desert, Calif.
