Falcons Wrap Up Day Two at Turtle Bay Resort Collegiate Invitational

    KAHUKU, Hawaii -

    With one round remaining, the Air Force golf team remains in 10th place at the Turtle Bay Resort Collegiate Invitational, hosted by Hawaii. The Falcons have compiled a team score of 612 (+36) for the opening two rounds, which were being played at the par-72, 7,143-yard Arnold Palmer Course.

    The Falcons’ top competitor is senior Tom Whitney (La Quinta, Calif.), who is tied for 19th place, coming in at 4-over-par (148) after two rounds. Meanwhile, freshman Andrew Hoops (Highland, Calif.) fired the team’s low round of 74 on Tuesday, and is now tied for 34th place at 150.

    Sophomore Robert Belz (San Antonio, Texas) is next for the Falcons, in 48th place with a two-round score of 156, while junior Kyle Bailey (Austin, Texas) is two strokes behind, tied for 50th place. Rounding out the competitors for the Falcons is Travis Deckert (So., Wichita, Kan.), who is tied for 57th place after two rounds, with a score of 162.

    San Diego State remains atop the team leaderboard after two rounds, compiling a score of 564 (-12). Meanwhile, the Aztecs’ Andrew Cooley has taken over the lead in the individual standings with a 6-under-par 138.

    The final round of the Turtle Bay Resort Collegiate Invitational, which will be played at the par-72, 6,535-yard George Fazio Course, begins tomorrow morning.
