KAHUKU, Hawaii -

After one round of competition, the Air Force golf team sits in 10th place at the Turtle Bay Resort Collegiate Invitational, hosted by Hawaii. The Falcons fired a 298 (+10) in the opening round, which is being held at the par-72, 7,143-yard Arnold Palmer Course.

Leading the way for the Falcons after one round is senior Tom Whitney (La Quinta, Calif.), who is tied for 13th in the individual standings with an even-par 72. Sophomore Robert Belz (San Antonio, Texas) and junior Kyle Bailey (Austin, Texas) are next for Air Force, tied for 38th place at 75 (+3), while freshman Andrew Hoops (Highland, Calif.) sits a stroke behind in a tie for 42nd place. Rounding out the competitors for the Falcons is Travis Deckert (So., Wichita, Kan.), who is tied for 53rd place with an opening round score of 79 (+7).

San Diego State sits in first place on the team leaderboard after firing an opening round 278 (-10). The Aztecs are led by Johan Carlsson, who leads the individual standings at 67 (-5).

The second round of the Turtle Bay Resort Collegiate Invitational begins tomorrow at 7:30 a.m. (HST).
