Falcons In Ninth Place At Herb Wimberly Intercollegiate

    Las Cruces, N.M. - With two rounds complete, the Air Force golf team sits in ninth place at the Herb Wimberly Intercollegiate, being held at the par-72, 7,074-yard NMSU Golf Course. The Falcons, who opened the day at 5-over-par, shot a 601 in the first two rounds, Meanwhile, host New Mexico State sits in first place at 573.

    Leading Air Force on day one of the tournament is freshman Tom Whitney (La Quinta, Calif.), who is currently 3-over-par at 147, tying for 16th place. Senior Tyler Goulding (Tracy, Calif.), who shot a 69 in the opening round, is now tied for 31st at 151, while classmate Chad Follett (El Paso, Texas) sits one stroke behind in a tie for 35th place.

    Rounding out the group for Air Force are sophomores Shaun O'Bryant (Colorado Springs, Colo.) and Andrew Gibson (San Ramon, Calif.) at 154 and 155, respectively. In addition, junior Matt Tanis (Asbury, N.J.), competing as an individual, is in 65th place after two rounds.

    The final round of the Herb Wimberly Intercollegiate is set to commence tomorrow with a 7:30 a.m. shotgun start.
