Falcons in 14th Place At Herb Wimberly Intercollegiate

    LAS CRUCES, N.M. -

    Led by freshman Andrew Hoops (Highland, Calif.), the Air Force golf team sits in 14th place at the Herb Wimberly Intercollegiate, being held at the par-71, 7,074-yard NMSU Golf Course. The Falcons put together a score of 574 (+6) after two rounds of action.

    Hoops fired a two-round total of 139 (-3) on Monday to tie for 17th place in the individual standings. Senior Tom Whitney (La Quinta, Calif.) is next for the Falcons, tying for 28th place with an even-par 139 after firing a team-low 67 in the second round.

    Sophomore Robert Belz (San Antonio, Texas) turned in a 146 on Monday and is tied for 54th place, while junior Kyle Bailey (Austin, Texas) sits a stroke behind in a tie for 60th place.

    Also competing for the Falcons is Travis Deckert (So., Wichita, Kan.), currently tied for 83rd place at 151, while Peter Guzowski (Sr., Tiffin, Ohio), competing as an individual, is tied for 67th place at 148.

    UNLV sits atop the team leaderboard with a two-round score of 551 (-17), led by Derek Ernst, who is currently first in the individual standings at 134 (-8).

    The Falcons wrap up action at the Herb Wimberly Intercollegiate tomorrow morning beginning with an 8:00 shotgun start.
