Falcons Wrap Up Opening Day At Sycuan Collegiate Invitational

    El Cajon, Calif. - At the completion of two rounds, the Air Force golf team sits in 16th place at the Sycuan Collegiate Invitational, hosted by San Diego State at the 6,6870-yard, par-72 Willow Glen Course. The Falcons fired a first-day total of 623 on Monday, while the host Aztecs sit atop the team leaderboard at 594 (+18). UC Riverside's Nick Paez and San Diego State's Jerry Porras are tied for first place individually with an even-par 144.

    Pacing the Falcons on day one is freshman Jack Kasting (Fr., Jenks, Okla.), currently tied for 22nd with a score of 152. Three strokes behind is senior Bob Whitney (La Quinta, Calif.), tied for 47th overall. Rounding out the group for Air Force are sophomore Tom Whitney (La Quinta, Calif.) at 157, Shaun O'Bryant (Jr., Colorado Springs, Colo.) at 163 and Andrew Gibson (Jr., San Ramon, Calif.) at 164.

    The final round of the Sycuan Collegiate Invitational is slated to begin Tuesday morning at 7:30 (PT).
