Air Force Concludes Opening Day at Sycuan Collegiate Invitational

    EL CAJON, Calif. - After shooting a 3-under-par 285 in round two, the Air Force golf team sits in a tie for 13th place at the Sycuan Collegiate Invitational, hosted by San Diego State at the 6,687-yard, par-72 Willow Glen Golf Course. The Falcons turned in an opening day score of 581 (+5).

    Leading the Falcons after two rounds are senior Shaun O'Bryant (Colorado Springs, Colo.) and junior Tom Whitney (La Quinta, Calif.) who are tied for 37th at 143 (-1). Both improved in the second round, with O'Bryant firing a 70 in round two, while Whitney came in at 5-under-par in the second round. Next in the standings for Air Force is senior Andrew Gibson (San Ramon, Calif.), tied for 61st with a two-round score of 146 (+2).

    Rounding out the group for the Falcons are sophomores Kyle Bailey (Austin, Texas) and Aaron White (Hereford, Texas), both tied with an opening round score of 152 (+8).

    San Diego leads in the team standings with a score of 550 (-26). Meanwhile, Wichita State's Dustin Garza sits atop the individual leaderboard at 132 (-12).

    The final round of the tournament begins tomorrow with a 7:30 a.m. shotgun start.
