Falcons Conclude Competition at Tucker Invitational
Sept. 27, 2008 ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - Struggling in the final round, the Air Force golf team placed 14th at the William H. Tucker Invitational, hosted by New Mexico at the 7,403-yard, par-72 UNM Championship Course. The Falcons finished with a three-round score of 922 (+58). The top performer for the Falcons was junior Tom Whitney (La Quinta, Calif.), who tied for 37th at 226. Next in the individual standings for Air Force was senior Andrew Gibson (San Ramon, Calif.) at 231, with Kyle Bailey (So., Austin, Texas) and Shaun O'Bryant (Sr., Colorado Springs, Colo.) directly behind at 232 and 233, respectively. Rounding out the group for the Falcons was freshman Robert Belz (San Antonio, Texas), in 88th place with a score of 245. Meanwhile, Aaron White (So., Hereford, Texas), competing as an individual, ended the tournament tied for 79th at 236. UNLV, ranked 22nd in the preseason coaches' poll, captured the team title, firing a three-round total of 852 (-12). Meanwhile, the Rebels' Eddie Olson and Colorado's Derek Tolan tied for first place in the individual standings with a score of 211 (-5). The Falcons return to action Oct. 6-7, at the annual Wolf Pack Classic, hosted by Nevada.
