Falcons Finish Eighth At Jim Colbert Intercollegiate

    Manhattan, Kan. - Following the completion of three rounds, the Air Force golf team finished in eighth place at the Jim Colbert Intercollegiate, held at the 7,525-yard, par-72 Colbert Hills Golf Course. The Falcons, with a 308 on Tuesday, finished at 927 for the tournament. Miami (Ohio) captured the team title with an 875, led by medalist Michael Drobnick at an even-par 216.

    Sophomore Tom Whitney (La Quinta, Calif.) posted the Falcons' best finish of the season, tying for eighth place at 223. Shaun O'Bryant (Jr., Colorado Springs, Colo.) and Jack Kasting (Fr., Jenks, Okla.) ended up tied for 40th at 236, while junior Andrew Gibson (San Ramon, Calif.) finished the tournament tied for 42nd at 238. Rounding out the group for Air Force was Bob Whitney (Sr., La Quinta, Calif.) at 248. Meanwhile, senior Matt Tanis (Asbury, N.J.) competed as an individual, finishing the tournament at 251.

    The Falcons return to action this weekend, Sept. 29-30, at the Shootout at Angel Park, hosted by Hawaii.
