Air Force Wraps Up First Day At Jim Colbert Intercollegiate

Manhattan, Kan. - With two rounds in the books, the Air Force golf team is currently tied for sixth place at the Jim Colbert Intercollegiate, being held at the 7,525-yard, par-72 Colbert Hills Golf Course. The Falcons fired a 619 on Monday, while first-place Miami (Ohio) shot a 583 to open the tournament. Marquette's Mike Van Sickle sits atop the individual leaderboard at an even-par 144. Sophomore Tom Whitney (La Quinta, Calif.) leads the Falcons after one day of competition, tied for 11th at 150 (+6). Junior Andrew Gibson (San Ramon, Calif.) is next for Air Force in a tie for 33rd (156), while Shaun O'Bryant (Jr., Colorado Springs, Colo.) is currently tied for 38th at 159. Rounding out the group for the Falcons were Jack Kasting (Fr., Jenks, Okla.) at 160 and Bob Whitney (Sr., La Quinta, Calif.) at 161. Meanwhile, senior Matt Tanis (Asbury, N.J.) competed as an individual, finishing the day at 166. The final round of the Jim Colbert Intercollegiate is slated to begin Tuesday morning at 8:30.
