The Air Force golf team wrapped up action Tuesday at the fourth annual Mark Simpson Colorado Invitational, hosted by the University of Colorado. The Falcons finished the tournament in sixth place with a total score of 889 after firing a two-under par 286 in the final round on the par-72, 7,771-yard course at the Colorado National Golf Club.
Senior Kyle Westmoreland and sophomore Matthew Dunn each posted his second top 10 finish in as many tournaments this fall. Westmoreland, who won the Gene Miranda Falcon Invitational two weeks ago, finished in a tie for fifth overall with a three-round total of one-over par 217 after a final round 73 (+1). Dunn, meanwhile, followed up his second-place finish at the Falcon Invite with a tie for eighth at 219 (+3) after posting a team-best round of 70 on Tuesday.
Host Colorado and Washington State tied for the team title with an 18-over par total of 882. Houston Baptist’s Preston Stanley won the individual title with a six-under-par 210, including a three-under par 69 on Tuesday.
The Falcons return to action Oct. 4-6 at the Brickyard Collegiate Championship in Macon, Ga. The tournament is hosted by Mercer University.
