Air Force Golfers Wrap Up Opening Day at Falcon Invitational

USAFA, Colo. - With two rounds in the books, the Air Force golf team sits in fifth place at the Gene Miranda Falcon Invitational, being held at the 7,301-yard, par-72 Eisenhower Blue Course. One of only four teams to turn in a below-par round, the Falcons hold a score of 586 through two rounds. Leading the way for Air Force is junior Tom Whitney (La Quinta, Calif.), tied for ninth place with a 1-under-par score of 143. Sophomore Kyle Bailey (Austin, Texas) is tied for 32nd at 147 (+4), followed by seniors Shaun O'Bryant (Colorado Springs, Colo.) and Andrew Gibson (San Ramon, Calif.) at 148 and 149, respectively. Rounding out the group for the Falcons is sophomore Aaron White (Hereford, Texas), with an opening day score of 155. The Falcons were also represented in their season-opening tournament by a Silver Team, which currently sits in 16th place in the team standings. Pacing the group after one day is junior Peter Guzowski (Tiffin, Ohio), tied for 59th at 151. Also competing for the Silver Team are junior Alex Horrell (Scottsdale, Ariz.) and freshmen Robert Belz (San Antonio, Texas), Caleb Leestma (Seabrook, Texas) and Travis Deckert (Wichita, Kan.).
Conference rivals Colorado State and UNLV are tied for first atop the team leaderboard at 560 (-16), while the Rams' Bryce Hanstad leads the individual standings at 138 (-6).
