After the first round of the 2014 NCAA Division I Regional Golf Tournament at the Eugene Country Club in Eugene, Ore., Air Force senior Kyle Westmoreland is tied for second place after shooting a three-under par 67 on Thursday. Westmoreland is tied with Chris Robb of Chattanooga, one shot behind Stanford's Patrick Rodgers.
Westmoreland had a pair of birdies on each side and held a share of the lead at -4 before posting his only bogey of the day on No. 16. The low five teams and low individual not on those teams from each of the six regional tournaments will advance to the NCAA Division I Championships.
"Kyle was solid from the start today," said Air Force head coach George Koury. "There is still a lot of golf to be played but I am proud of his round today."
Round two of the competition tees off on Friday, May 16 at 8 a.m. (PT). Westmoreland will tee off at 10:34 a.m. from the tenth hole with Julian Woodfork of Northern Colorado and Byron Meth of Pacific.
