Falcons in Eighth Place at MWC Championship

TUCSON, Ariz. - After one day of competition, the Air Force golf team sits in eighth place at the 2009 Mountain West Conference Championship, being held at the par-71, 7,136-yard OMNI Tucson National Golf Club. In the first round of action, the Falcons posted a score of 293 (+9). Leading the way for Air Force on day one was junior Tom Whitney (La Quinta, Calif.), who turned in a round of 72 (+1) to finish the day in a tie for 12th place. Freshman Robert Belz (San Antonio, Texas) and sophomore Kyle Bailey (Austin, Texas) each sit a stroke behind, tied for 22nd place, while Aaron White (So., Hereford, Texas) and Shaun O'Bryant (Sr., Colorado Springs, Colo.) round out the group, tied for 34th place at with an opening round score of 75. TCU sits atop the team leaderboard after one round of action with a score of 276 (-8), led by Tom Hoge, who is first in the individual standings at 67 (-4). Round two of the MWC Championship will commence tomorrow, with the first tee times scheduled for 7:00 a.m (PT). Day One Results
