Air Force Wraps Up Day One at PING Cougar Classic

PROVO, Utah - Led by junior Tom Whitney (La Quinta, Calif.), the Air Force golf team is in 10th place after two rounds at the PING Cougar Classic, hosted by BYU at the par-72, 7,142-yard Riverside Country Club. The Falcons posted a score of 588 (+12) on the opening day of competition. After firing a 69 in the second round, Whitney finished the day tied for ninth place with a two-round total of 142 (-2). Next in the individual standings for the Falcons is senior Shaun O'Bryant (Colorado Springs, Colo.), who posted Air Force's best score in the opening round and is currently tied for 26th at 146. Freshman Robert Belz (San Antonio, Texas) fired a two-round total of 149 on day one and is tied for 43rd overall, while Kyle Bailey (So., Austin, Texas) sits three strokes behind in a tie for 55th place. Rounding out the group of competitors for Air Force is sophomore Aaron White (Hereford, Texas), tied for 73rd place at 160. Host BYU leads in the team standings with a score of 559 (-17), while Southern Utah's Matt MacArthur sits atop the individual leaderboard with a two-round total of 133 (-11). The final round of the PING Cougar Classic will begin tomorrow morning. Day One Results
