Air Force Ties for 13th at PING Cougar Classic

    PROVO, Utah -

    Turning in its best score in the final round, the Air Force golf team finished tied for 13th place at the PING Cougar Classic, hosted by BYU at the par-72, 7,142-yard Riverside Country Club. The Falcons fired a 291 on Saturday to finish the weekend at 885 (+21).

    Senior Kyle Bailey (Austin, Texas) was Air Force’s top performer, tying for 32nd place with a three-round score of 219 (+3), while Kyle Westmoreland (Fr., Katy, Texas) finished a stroke behind to tie for 40th place individually. Freshman Philip Colwell (The Woodlands, Texas) shot a team-low round of 69 on Saturday to finish the tournament at 221 (+5), tying for 47th place.

    Also competing for Air Force were juniors Robert Belz (San Antonio, Texas) and Caleb Leestma (Seabrook, Texas), who finished with scores of 227 and 229, respectively.

    Colorado State captured the team title, firing a three-round score of 847 (-17), while BYU’s Zac Blair earned medalist honors, finishing 11 strokes under par with a score of 205.

    With their regular season slate completed, the Falcons will return to action May 5-7 at the Mountain West Conference Championship, being held in Tucson, Ariz.
