Falcons Wrap Up Competition at Ron Moore Invitational

Goodyear, Ariz. - Firing a 7-over-par 295 in the final round, the Air Force golf team finished tied for 15th place at the Ron Moore Invitational, hosted by Denver at the 7,015 yard, par-72 Palm Valley Golf Club. The Falcons turned in a three-round score of 885 (+21) for the tournament. Leading Air Force at the Ron Moore Invitational was sophomore Tom Whitney (La Quinta, Calif.). Whitney, who fired a 3-under-par 69 in the final round, tied for 20th place individually at 214 (-2). Junior Shaun O'Bryant (Colorado Springs, Colo.) was next for the Falcons, tying for 34th place at 217 (+1). Senior Bob Whitney (La Quinta, Calif.) tied for 67th overall with a score of 227, while junior Andrew Gibson (San Ramon, Calif.) and freshman Kyle Bailey (Austin, Texas) finished in a tie for 71st place and in 73rd place, respectively. Kansas State wrapped up the team title with a three-round score of 845 (-19), while Boise State's Troy Merritt won medalist honors, finishing at a 16-under-par 200. The Falcons return to action April 18-19 at the PING Cougar Classic, hosted by BYU in Provo, Utah.
