Air Force Wraps Up Day One at San Diego Intercollegiate Classic

CHULA VISTA, Calif. - Led by freshman Kyle Westmoreland (Katy, Texas), the Air Force golf team sits in 10th place at the San Diego Intercollegiate Classic, being held at the par-72, 7,050-yard San Diego Country Club. The Falcons, scoring their top five of six competitors, fired a combined team score of 784 (+64) on the opening day of action. Westmoreland, who shot a team-low 75 in the second round, is currently tied for 35th in the individual standings at 152 (+8), while classmate Philip Colwell (The Woodlands, Texas) sits two strokes behind in a tie for 42nd place. Meanwhile, junior Caleb Leestma (Seabrook, Texas), who fired the Falcons’ low round to start the day, is currently in 50th place overall with a score of 156 (+10). Tied for 61st place individually are Kyle Bailey (Sr., Austin, Texas) and Andrew Hoops (So., Highland, Calif.), who each posted scores of 161 after two rounds, while junior Mark Boyer (Hershey, Pa.) rounds out the group of Falcons, tied for 67th at 163. SMU leads in the team standings, firing a two-round score of 724 (+4). Meanwhile, the Mustangs’ Kelly Kraft and host San Diego’s Alex Ching are tied for first on the individual leaderboard with a 5-under-par 139.
