Falcons Finish 15th at Southern Highlands

    Las Vegas, Nev. - After three days of action, the Air Force golf team placed 15th at the Southern Highlands Collegiate Championship, being held at the 7,510 yard, par-72 Southern Highlands Golf Club. The Falcons finished at 954 (+90) for the weekend.

    Leading the way for the Falcons in the tournament was junior Shaun O'Bryant (Colorado Springs, Colo.), who placed 62nd at 233, while sophomore Tom Whitney (La Quinta, Calif.) finished two strokes behind in a tie for 63rd place.

    Rounding out the group for the Falcons were senior Bob Whitney (La Quinta, Calif.), junior Andrew Gibson (San Ramon, Calif.) and freshman Kyle Bailey (Austin, Texas) in 76th, 77th and 77th place, respectively.

    Host UNLV, ranked 21st in the country, took the team title with a 5-over-par 869, beating out No. 2 Charlotte, No. 1 Georgia, No. 7 USC and No. 4 UCLA, which rounded out the top five. Meanwhile, there was a three-way tie for first place in the individual standings, with Charlotte's Jonas Enander Hedin, Georgia's Hudson Swafford and USC's Rory Hie each finishing at 213 (-3).

    The Falcons return to action March 21-23 when they travel to Goodyear, Ariz., for the Ron Moore Invitational, hosted by Denver.
