Air Force Concludes Day One at Southern Highlands

    Las Vegas, Nev. - In a field which includes seven of the nation's top 10 teams, the Air Force golf team sits in 15th place after one round of the Southern Highlands Collegiate Championship, being held at the 7,510 yard, par-72 Southern Highlands Golf Club. The Falcons are currently 31-over-par with an opening round score of 319.

    Pacing the Falcons on day one of the tournament is sophomore Tom Whitney (La Quinta, Calif.), tied for 53rd at 77. Junior Shaun O'Bryant (Colorado Springs, Colo.) and freshman Kyle Bailey (Austin, Texas) are next for Air Force, tied for 68th place at 80.

    Rounding out the group for the Falcons are junior Andrew Gibson (San Ramon, Calif.) and senior Bob Whitney (La Quinta, Calif.), tied for 76th place and in 78th place, respectively.

    Seventh-ranked USC leads in the team standings with a 3-under-par 285, while Charlotte's Jonas Endander Hedin and UNLV's Matt Kinsinger are tied atop the individual leaderboard at 68 (-4).

    Round two begins tomorrow with an 8:00 a.m. (PT) start.
