U.S. AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. – The Air Force golf team placed eighth in the annual Loyola Invitational Tournament, Monday, Feb. 26, at the Palm Valley Golf Club in Goodyear, Ariz. The College of Charleston won the tournament with a team score of 816 (-48).
Air Force shot a season-best 843 (-21) to place eighth in the 19-team tournament. The Falcons shot a 278 in both the first and second rounds, the best 18-hole score of the season. The previous best was 283 at the Mark Simpson Invitational at the University of Colorado, Sept. 27.
Air Force placed ahead of Army West Point for the second time this season as the Black Knights were 14th with a three-round score of 861.
Sophomore Josh Wu was the top Falcon, placing 15th overall with a three-round total of 208 (-8). His first round of 68 and his three-round score are both career bests. Wu was under par in each of the three rounds, shooting 68-69-71. Junior Tate Tatom and sophomore Austin Kuznik tied for 24th overall at 211 (-5). Tatom was under par in every round as well, shooting 69-71-71. Junior Andy Germann tied for 34h at 213 (-3).
Air Force is now idle until the Kingsmill Invitational, hosted by the University of William and Mary, March 25-27, in Williamsburg, Va.
