Falcons Conclude Day One at Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate

PALM DESERT, Calif. - After one round of action, the Air Force golf team is tied for 17th place at the Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate being held at the par-72, 7,305-yard Classic Club. The Falcons shot a 311 (+23) in the opening round on Saturday, while the second round was suspended due to darkness. Leading the Falcons in the first round was sophomore Andrew Hoops (Highland, Calif.), who fired a 3-over-par 75 to sit in a tie for 31st place. Wes Denny (So., Cincinnati, Ohio) is next in the individual standings, tied for 55th place at 78. Caleb Leestma (Jr., Seabrook, Texas) and Jack Howard (Fr., Cartersville, Ga.) are a stroke behind in a tie for 66th place, while Philip Colwell (Fr., The Woodlands, Texas) rounds out the group with an opening round score of 83. Meanwhile, senior Kyle Bailey (Austin, Texas), competing as an individual in this weekend's tournament, fired a 74 in the opening round of action and is currently tied for 19th place. Texas A&M, ranked eighth in the latest coaches poll, sits atop the team leaderboard with a score of 294 (+6) in the opening round, while New Mexico's Tom Carlson leads in the individual standings after firing a 3-under-par 69 in the first round. The second round of the Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate will be completed tomorrow morning starting at 7:00 (PT), while the final round will follow immediately after. Round One Results in PDF Format
