Falcons Finish 14th At UTSA Intercollegiate

    San Antonio, Texas - Turning its best round on the final day of competition, the Air Force golf team finished in 14th place at the UTSA Intercollegiate, held at the par-71, 6,765-yard Oak Hills Country Club. Sam Houston State captured the team title, turning in a three-round score of 865, while Illinois State's Matt Miller won medalist honors at 208 (-5).

    Air Force, which shot a 301 in the third round, turned in a three-round score of 926. Sophomore Shaun O'Bryant (Colorado Springs, Colo.) led the Falcons by finishing in a tie for fifth place at 218 (+5), after turning in a 1-under-par 70 on Tuesday morning. Meanwhile, senior Tyler Goulding (Tracy, Calif.), finished tied for 49th place in the individual standings with a three-round score of 230.

    Also competing for the Falcons were sophomore Andrew Gibson (San Ramon, Calif.), tied for 71st, junior Jared Freeman (Brazil, Ind.), tied for 78th place, and senior Chad Follett (El Paso, Texas), finishing 86th. Competing as an individual was junior Matt Tanis (Asbury, N.J.), who finished tied for 57th overall.

    The Falcons return to action March 12-13 at the USF Invitational, held at the Pauma Valley CC in San Diego, Calif.
