Air Force Completes Opening Day at UTSA Oaks Hills Invitational

    SAN ANTONIO, Texas - In its first tournament of the spring season, the Air Force golf team sits in 14th place at the UTSA Oak Hills Invitational being held at the par-72, 6,691-yard Oak Hills Country Club. In two rounds of action, the Falcons turned in a score of 617 (+41).

    Leading the way for Air Force on the first day of competition was junior Tom Whitney (La Quinta, Calif.), currently tied for 33rd place at 147. Sophomore Kyle Bailey (Austin, Texas) is next in the individual standing for the Falcons, tied for 62nd at 153, while Andrew Gibson (Sr., San Ramon, Calif.) is tied for 67th at 156.

    Also competing for Air Force are Shaun O'Bryant (Sr., Colorado Springs, Colo.), in 73rd place, and freshman Robert Belz (San Antonio, Texas), who currently sits in 74th place.

    Texas Tech leads in the team standings with a score of 543 (-33), paced by Chris Ward, who sits atop the individual leaderboard at 131 (-13).

    The final round of the tournament starts tomorrow with tee times beginning at 7:30 a.m.
