Falcons Wrap Up Competition at UTSA Oak Hills Invitational
Feb. 15, 2011 SAN ANTONIO, Texas - After struggling in the final round, the Air Force golf team finished 16th at the UTSA Oak Hills Invitational being held at the par-71, 6,765-yard Oak Hills Country Club. As a team, the Falcons shot a 314 on Tuesday to finish with a three-round total of 908 (+56). Air Force was led at the tournament by senior Kyle Bailey (Austin, Texas), who tied for 61st place with a score of 227. Wes Denny (So., Cincinnati, Ohio) and Philip Colwell (Fr., The Woodlands, Texas) finished a stroke behind to tie for 64th place, while freshman Kyle Westmoreland (Katy, Texas) and sophomore Andrew Hoops (Highland, Calif.) rounded out the group, tying for 78th place at 232.
Texas Tech, ranked 23rd in the latest coaches poll, captured the team title, firing a 15-under-par 837 for the tournament, while the Red Raiders’ Nils Floren won medalist honors after finishing 5-under-par at 208. The Falcons return to action Feb. 26-27 at the Desert Classic, hosted by Wyoming in Palm Desert, Calif.
