Air Force Concludes Day One at UTSA Oak Hills Invitational

SAN ANTONIO, Texas - In its first tournament of the spring season, the Air Force golf team sits in 14th place at the UTSA Oak Hills Invitational, being held at the par-71, 6,765-yard Oak Hills CC. After two rounds of action, the Falcons have a team score of 613 (+45). Leading the way for Air Force on the opening day of competition is senior Tom Whitney (La Quinta, Calif.). After firing a 4-over-par 75 in the first round, Whitney shot an even 71 in round two and is currently tied for 12th place at 146. Freshman Andrew Hoops (Highland, Calif.) is next in the individual standings for the Falcons, tied for 50th at 153. Robert Belz (So., San Antonio, Texas) is tied for 64th place with a score of 157, while Kyle Bailey (Jr., Austin, Texas) sits two strokes behind in a tie for 73rd place. Also competing for the Falcons is Travis Deckert (So., Wichita, Kan.), who is in 80th place after two rounds of action. Southeastern Louisiana State and 19th-ranked Texas Tech are tied for the team lead at 582 (+14). Meanwhile, there is a three-way tie for first place in the individual standings, with Southeastearn Louisiana State’s Philipp Westermann, Louisiana-Lafayette’s Philipp Fendt and Wichita State’s Dustin Garza all turning in scores of 142 (E) on Monday. The Falcons wrap up action at the UTSA Oak Hills Invitational tomorrow morning. Air Force’s tee times will begin at 8:33 a.m. (CT). Day One Results
