Air Force Concludes Day One at UTSA Oak Hills Invitational

In its first event of the spring season, the Air Force golf team sits in 13th place at the UTSA Oak Hills Invitational being held at the par-71, 6,765-yard Oak Hills Country Club. After two rounds of action, the Falcons have recorded a team score of 594 (+26). Leading the way for Air Force on the first day of action is freshman Philip Colwell (The Woodlands, Texas), who is currently tied for 30th in the individual standings. After firing a 72 in the opening round, the low score of the day for the Falcons, Colwell shot a 73 in round two. Senior captain Kyle Bailey (Austin, Texas) is next in the standings for Air Force, tied for 44th place with a two-round score of 148. Sophomore Wes Denny (Cincinnati, Ohio) is tied for 56th place at 150, while freshman Kyle Westmoreland (Katy, Texas) is a stroke behind in a tie for 64th place. Rounding out the group of Falcons is sophomore Andrew Hoops (Highland, Calif.), tied for 87th place at 156.
Texas Tech, ranked 23rd in the latest coaches poll, sits atop the team leaderboard after two rounds of action with an 18-under-par 550. The Red Raiders are led by Tyler Weworski, who is first in the individual standings after firing a two-round score of 134 (-8). The final round of the UTSA Oak Hills Invitational begins tomorrow with tee times starting at 7:30 a.m. (CT).
