We caught up with Coach Calhoun and some of the players to take a tour of the locker room. Construction is currently underway, and you can already see what a difference it is making. Thanks to your generous donations the locker room is being renovated and upgraded, and will be finished in the coming weeks.
Beat `em Off The Line
There's nothing better than a starting your day off with a great practice on a sunny morning. Here's what it looked like on the field for Day 7 of Training Camp, working on some speed and footwork drills. Check out the Falcons as they sprint, back pedal and shuffle down the field. Drills are good, but adding a little head to head competition changes the game. When you're trying to get to the ball first, you have to beat `em off the line.
The first full week of training camp is winding down, and the Falcons are practicing in full force. Want to see what our quarterbacks have been up to at practice? Here is a sneak peak of what's to come this season! If you want to see more, be sure to be at Falcon Stadium for fan day, this Saturday (Aug 9.) to see the Falcons take the field. The scrimmage starts at 10am, so don't be late. You don't want to miss it!
We caught up with Tight Ends coach, Jake Moreland, to ask a few questions about the season, and hear a couple of good stories from his time in the NFL. Coach Moreland will be coaching for his third season here at Air Force, and gave us a look at what's coming this season for the Falcons. Hear his thoughts on the team's progress, what makes the Academy such a special place, and hear his "welcome to the NFL moment".
As training camp continues, we want to give you, the fans, an opportunity to get to know the players and coaches here at the academy. Here's your chance to meet assistant backfield coach, Coach Jake Campbell. Coach Campbell is joining the Falcons for his third season of coaching. We caught up with Coach Campbell to hear his thoughts on the offseason, how he's preparing his group for this season, and as a former cadet-athlete, what it means to be a Falcon.
The sun came out for day 3 of training camp, and the Falcons were able to practice outside for the first time. After practice we caught up with senior defensive lineman, #98 Dillan Beschel to talk about his final season as a Falcon. Beschel recaps his summer activities as a course leader, and how he is gaining leadership experience on and off the field that will benefit him as an officer after graduation.
Following the second day of practice Air Force players and coaches stuck around the Holaday Athletic Center to welcome in fans for a unique look into the Falcon program during the 3rd annual Football 101 event. Participants enjoyed a happy hour and dinner before getting to work with their position coaches to learn the Air Force playbook and get an understanding of everything that happens in preparation for game day. Once the chalk talk portion of the event was complete, Falcon players took the lead in escorting fans on a behind the scenes tour of the football facilities including visits into the locker room, weight room, equipment area and the football offices/meeting areas.
Throughout the summer we will be interviewing the coaches about their experiences and expectations for the coming football season. Here is your chance to meet recruiting coordinator and secondary coach, coach Rudzinski, and get a sneak peak of practice and Football 101.
