Air Force seniors Alex Norton and Grant Ross, along with sophomore Isaiah Sanders all earned separate football honors this week. Norton was named second-team all-Mountain West while Ross earned honorable mention honors. Sanders earned a pair of player of the week honors.
Norton, the team’s starting center, led the offensive line in knockdown blocks this season while helping pave the way for the offense to win the conference rushing title with an average of 307.4 yards per game. The offense also finished third in the conference in scoring (31.4) and total offense (417.5).
Ross, an inside linebacker, led the Falcons in tackles with 97 which is an average of 9.5 tackles per game. He also led the team with 9.5 tackles for loss and four forced fumbles. Ross led the Falcons in tackles the last four games this season, including nine tackles and 2.5 tackles for loss vs. Utah State in the season finale.
Sanders earned a pair of player of the week honors for his performance against Utah State in Air Force’s thrilling 38-35 victory in Falcon Stadium last Saturday. He was named CollegeSportsMadness.com Mountain West offensive player of the week and overall player of the week by the Colorado Chapter of the National Football Foundation. The sophomore quarterback set a school record with 44 carries for a career-best 196 yards rushing and three touchdowns in his first-career start. He scored the game-winning touchdown in the final two minutes.
Air Force finished the season 5-7 overall and tied for fourth in the Mountain Division with a 4-4 mark.
