Perez, Kraay selected for all-star games
Nov. 8, 2006
Air Force seniors Gilberto Perez and Robert Kraay have been selected to play in post-season all-star games in January, 2007. Perez will be a defensive lineman in the Hula Bowl, while Kraay will be an offensive lineman in the East-West Shrine game.
Perez was a first-team preseason all-conference selection. After missing three games early in the season due to a knee injury, Perez came back ahead of schedule and has been a key factor for the Falcons' defense which has improved in every category from last season. The team co-captain was among the league leaders in tackles for loss a year ago with nine.
Kraay has been the anchor of the offensive line which leads the conference and ranks third nationally in rushing with a 266.9 per-game average. Kraay has started every game the last two seasons and has helped the offensive line overcome the loss of four starters throughout the season.
"This is a very fitting honor for both of these players," Air Force head coach Fisher DeBerry said. "Gilberto is still one of the top defensive linemen in our conference and Robert Kraay is playing as well as any offensive lineman we've had in our program."
Air Force, 4-4 overall and 3-2 in the Mountain West Conference, hosts eighth-ranked Notre Dame Saturday, Nov. 11, at 2 p.m. in Falcon Stadium
