Senior tailback Anthony LaCoste had a career day to lead Air Force to a much-needed win over Army, snapping a seven-game losing streak. LaCoste recorded career highs of 263 yards rushing, three touchdowns and 23 carries while averaging 11.4 yards per carry. His 263 yards rushing are the second-most in Air Force history and most since Chad Hall set the school record of 275 vs. Army in 2007. In addition, his 263-yard effort is ties as the fifth-most by an FBS player this season. LaCoste became the first player in school history to have two runs of over 70 yards in a game, scoring on runs of 73 and 78 yards. He also had a 43-yard run which marks the three longest runs of his career. There has only been one other Falcon to ever have two runs of 70 or more yards in a season (Beau Morgan 77 yds vs. Colorado State and Wyoming in 1996). LaCoste's three touchdowns are the most by an AFA player this season. He also had a 27-yard kickoff return, giving him 290 all-purpose yards in the game which is the fourth most in school history and most since Hall had 333 vs. Army in 2007.
LaCoste's performance against Army was the top rushing performance in the nation last week. He earned CollegeSportsMadness.com Mountain West offensive player of the week honors for his efforts. LaCoste also earned an ESPN Helmet Sticker and was named CollegeFootball Performance National Running Back of the Week honors. In addition, LaCoste became the first Falcon this season to earn Mountain West Player of the Week honors, sharing the award with Fresno State quarterback Derek Carr.
