Falcon Defensive Staff Earns FootballScoop Game Changing Coaches Honor
Oct. 20, 2009
The Air Force football defensive staff was one of five Division I college football staffs that earned FootballScoop.com Game Changing Coaches for games played the weekend of Oct. 17. The Falcon defensive coaches were honored for helping guide Air Force to a 10-0 shutout victory over Wyoming.
Air Force allowed just 4-of-16 third down conversions including 0-of-6 in the second half to help defeat Wyoming 10-0. It was the Falcons' second defensive shutout of the season and the first shutout in conference play in 12 years.
Defensive coordinator Tim DeRuyter helped put together a plan that limited Wyoming to 174 total yards and forced sixth sacks. In the second half, the defense forced three three-and-outs. Wyoming averaged just 2.9 yards per rush on 35 attempts. Air Force is now 10th nationally in total defense, seventh in scoring defense, and 17th in sacks.
Every Tuesday morning during the season, FootballScoop recognizes several of the outstanding coaching performances from the past week.
