Sept. 28, 2009
Air Force football garnered several individual player of the week awards for performance in the San Diego State game on Sept. 26. Defensive back Reggie Rembert garnered four player of the week honors and specialist Erik Soderberg earned Kickoff Specialist Performer of the Week by College Football Performance Awards. Rembert was named Mountain West Conference defensive player of the week, National Football Foundation Colorado Chapter player of the week and was the national player of the week and national defensive back of the week by College Football Performance Awards. Rembert recorded a team-high seven tackles (five solo stops), a career-best two interceptions, a fumble recovery and a forced fumble in Air Force's 26-14 win over San Diego State. Midway through the first quarter, the junior defensive back from Flower Mound, Texas, recovered a fumble and returned it 47 yards for his first career touchdown to put the Falcons up 7-0. Rembert had a hand in four of the Falcons' six forced turnovers in the game, leading to 13 of Air Force's 26 points. Soderberg had five touchbacks in six kickoff attempts. The sophomore from Eden Prairie, Minn., also tied the school record with four field goals in the game. Soderberg currently leads the Mountain West Conference with 10 field goals and 44 points.
