Thirteen Air Force football players named academic all-Mountain West Conference

    USAFA, Colo. - Thirteen Air Force football players earned academic All-Mountain West Conference honors as announced today by the MWC. Seniors Nick Charles, Ben Garland, Justin Moore and Chris Thomas were joined on the team by juniors  Keil Bartholomew, Kyle Halderman, Kevin Fogler, Tyler Schonsheck and Nathan Walker, sophomores Jeffrey Benson, Josh Hall and A. J. Wallerstein and freshman Olawale Lawal.

    The 13 academic all-conference selections tie as the second most in school history. The 1999 team set the school record with 18 players named to the academic all-conference team. The 2000 and 2006 teams also had 13 selections.

    A total of 384 student-athletes were named to the Fall 2009 Academic All-Mountain West Conference team. Fall sports include men's and women's cross country, football, women's soccer and women's volleyball. To be eligible for selection, student-athletes must have completed at least one academic term at the member institution while maintaining a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better, and be a starter or significant contributor on their athletic team.
