Air Force football (1-3, 0-2 MW) dropped a 56-38 shootout at New Mexico (3-2, 1-1 MW) Saturday night at Dreamstyle Stadium in Albuquerque, NM. The Falcons now turn their attention to a service academy game next week at Navy.
Richard McQuarley ran for 179 and five touchdowns to pace New Mexico. The Lobos ran for 363 yards on the night.
Junior quarterback Arion Worthman threw a career-high three touchdown passes for the Falcons, adding a rushing score as well. Worthman threw for 158 yards and ran for 90 on a career-high 30 carries. Senior running back Tim McVey added 74 yards rushing and a touchdown.
Geraud Sanders, Ronald Cleveland and Ryan Reffitt caught touchdown passes for Air Force.
The Falcons led 21-14 at halftime before getting out-scored 42-17 in the second half. Air Force played its second-straight game with a lightning delay that lasted over an hour.
Air Force tallied 396 yards of total offense, rushing for 238 yards.
Senior Jack Flor led the Air Force defense with eight tackles.
