The Air Force-Navy 10-bout boxing card Friday night ended in a 5-5 tie at the Cadet Gym.

Air Force's Derrick Baker won the first bout of the night in the 128-pound division by upsetting Aaron Burciaga, who won the Brigade title last spring. "Baker came in tall and straight," said boxing coach Eddie Weichers, Jr. "His bout set the tone for the entire card as all of the bouts were just a battle."

Clell Knight, a finalist in last year's Wing Open, won the 164-pound division over Rick Weil, another Brigade champion.

The Coaches tabbed Ethan Sabin, a junior, as the Boxer of the Week for his 195-pound bout against Navy's David Rainey, a Brigade finalist this past season. "Sabin lost the first round," Weichers said. "But he came back strong to win both the second and third rounds. It was a battle and a very gusty performance."

"None of the bouts were what I would call 'pretty,' and there was a lot of tension throughout the card," said Weichers. "All of the bouts were won by decision. Not a single one was won by the referee stopping the bout."
